Weekly Music Challenge Day #30- If My Life Was A Movie, What Would The Soundtrack Be?

Hello there readers! First of all, an apology for no posts last week- I was working long shifts from dawn-mid afternoon, with socialising & sleep in between! Now I'm back & after a nice afternoon of retail therapy, I bring you tonight's blog post!

I've come to the end of my music challenge & tonight's final post is the second of my substitutes. To end the challenge, I've decided to take part in a music meme. It's called 'If My Life Was A Movie, What Would The Soundtrack Be?' & here are the rules:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play

4. For every question below, type the song that’s playing

5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool …

I'll confess, I have altered this before I started & have a playlist of some of my most played songs to use as opposed to my whole iTunes library as there are some songs on there that I haven't really listened to, so I couldn't imagine how they'd sound if they'd come up. I think that's fair enough, right? Anyway, enough of that, let's get on with this soundtrack, with an added commentary from yours truly:

Opening Credits:
Well this could be misleading- will the audience think I'm going to Jackson, or be wondering why I'm married before the film's even started? Bit of an odd starter, but good song!

First Day At School:
Hmm, I don't think this fits the situation. Not at all.

Falling In Love:
Seeing as this song starts with a verse about shooting your friends, I really don't think this is fitting either. Although it could link to someone after the second verse? This person whose friends think they're a pest, but I fall in love with them? Could be interesting...

Breaking Up:
So someone's stuck in the comfort zone of their mind, could be me, could be them? Either way this could make for a good montage backing with sad clips.

Prom:
Now this would be an amazing prom song- punk prom! If this had been out & played at my actual prom, this would have been epic!

Mental Breakdown:
I think this is the most fitting so far. I can imagine I've run to escape life in Vegas & then my breakdown happens accompanied by this. Would be very dramatic.

Flashbacks:
Could tie in nicely with the last one? Could show all the fun moments before going on a downward spiral in Vegas, then spliced in images of me getting my shit together. Pretty good montage right there!

Getting Back Together:
This works well. Looks like the punk(ish?) couple are back together. Am going to assume they're a punky type from the 'Falling In Love' song.

Wedding Scene:
Quite fitting, even if it is singing more about imagining being with someone that actually marrying them. But it could be the aftermath of all that imagining. Aww!

Final Battle:
Now this would make a great battle song. Have no idea what I'd be battling, but whatever it is, this song fits like a glove!

Death Scene:
Well this is a bit odd, although the slow tempo & pianos make it kind of fitting? Could be the love of my life singing it to my as I die, that's how I see this one working.

Funeral Song:
'La Generique Fin' by Cinema Bizarre
Seeing as it's a finale song anyway, it kind of works, a bit whimsical for a funeral though.

End Credits:
'Thought Of Bride' by Blowsight
I think this makes a good credits song, gives the audience a chance to rock out after the film. Based on the other songs, fits well!

Finale:
'Man In Black' by Johnny Cash
Oh what a tune! Could be explaining why I wear black a lot? Or not, my reasons aren't as deep as Mr Cash's!

And there we have it folks! The soundtrack of my life plus the end of the music challenge! But not to fear, Music Monday's will continue- I'll just have to find something else to blog about!

Readers, why don't you take this mini challenge? Follow the rules & post your life's soundtrack in the comments below!

Weekly Music Challenge Day #29- A Song That Would Play During The Apocalypse

Hello all & welcome to tonight's penultimate edition of the weekly song challenge! This is the first of my substituted challenges & I have tonight decided I'd share with you a song I think would be fitting for the end of the world, which is this:

'It's The End Of The World As We Know It' by R.E.M

Because if this didn't play as the world was ending, I'd feel disappointed.

There we are readers, now what tune would you like to hear at the end of the world? Feel free to comment below!

Weekly Music Challenge Day #28- My Favourite Song This Time Last Year

Hello my good readers & welcome back to another Music Monday. I'm reaching the end of my challenge now & this is the last item from the original list- the next two parts of this challenge are substitutes for songs I couldn't find/didn't want to do.

Tonight's challenge is to find my favourite song from this time last year. Now this is a tough one as I can't really recall what song was prominent in my mind at this point last year! But thanks to Instagram, I was able to go back & found a doodle based on this song, drawn around a year ago:

'Last Man On The Moon' by SR-71

Whether or not it was my favourite song, I can't recall, but it must have had some level of favouritism if I did a doodle on it, which is this:

So readers, do you remember your favourite song from this time last year? If you do, then leave a comment below!

Weekly Music Challenge Day #25- A Song That I Wish I Could Play On An Instrument

Hey readers! Welcome back to another edition of Music Monday. Rejigging the list order again this week, as I have a little something planned for a certain part of the challenge.

Moving swiftly on, tonight's challenge is to find a song I wish I could play on an instrument. Now this I could easily write a list for- there are too many songs out there I wish I could play! Usually the reason I say I can't is because I can't find the chords- will admit I'm not always the best when it comes to playing by ear- so for my song choice today I'll choose this:

'Liver' by The Hitchers

The reason why I choose this song among all the others in my mental list of songs I wish I could play is because I was thinking about trying to play it the other day. Actually, I did Chordify it earlier & it turns out the chords are pretty easy, so will have to give it a go soon!

That's it folks. Why not tell me a song you wish you could play on an instrument?

Weekly Music Challenge Day #23- A Song That I Want To Play At My Wedding

Hello readers! Been a busy week here in the life of Amy Sheppard, hence why you didn't hear from me Friday & why I did a Tune Tuesday last week. This week I am taking the time out to continue my music challenge, with my hardest song choice to date!

A song I want played at my wedding. Not something I've thought of- heck, I've not even decided if I will get married yet! May just live "in sin" as they say & hold a party with a buffet, seeing as that is the best part of a wedding (not to mention it'll cost less!). Or I'll end up being a crazy cat lady...

But who knows? Maybe when I'm older I'll be more inclined to marry. If the event ever does happen, I've decided this would be a good song:

'Last Night On Earth' by Green Day

It's my favourite "love song", so I think this would be appropriate. Contains "nice words" as my Grandad would put it (although I doubt he'd think so about this song, I hasten to add).  Fingers crossed the man I end up with is a Green Day fan...

So there we have it, a song that I want played at my wedding. Future me, if you do decide to get married, please think back to this post when coming up with a playlist! Readers, if you wish to share a song you want played at your wedding, please feel free to comment below!

Weekly Song Challenge Day #22- A Song That I Listen To When I'm Sad

Hey readers! Music Monday & the challenge returns! Although this week, it's not a particularly upbeat post, as today's challenge is to share a song I listen to when I'm sad. Now, much like with the angry one & the happy one, I don't really have a go-to song when I'm sad. In all honesty, I rarely feel sad, & usually when I do I don't really like music that reflects these feelings, I prefer to listen to something that may perk me up a bit &/or distract me. However, if I do have to pick a go-to "sad" song for this challenge, it's going to be this:

'Bury My Troubles' by Imelda May

The reason why I've chosen this song is because I feel Imelda gives good advice- bury your troubles away! The song talks about getting rid of negative feelings & not being a slave to them, which is easier said than done but is still a good notion to go by!

There we have it, tonight's post. For a more positive post this Monday, why not head over to my friend Jess's blog, 'Vanilla and Owls', & check out her album post!

Weekly Song Challenge Day #21- A Song I Listen To When I'm Happy

Hey all! Another Monday means another edition of the weekly music challenge. This week I get to share with you a song I listen to when I'm happy. To be fair, this is a lot of songs! And when my mood's good I tend to listen to whatever- & usually I tend to go by whatever song's in my head when I decide what to listen to & not my mood. So today I'll share with you a feel-good song of mine, well, more of an upbeat favourite:

'The Reckless And The Brave' by All Time Low

First track of one of my favourite albums, always puts me in a good mood! Plus, this song is pretty awesome!

So readers, what's your song to listen to when you're happy? Comment below!

Weekly Song Challenge Day #19- A Song From My Favourite Album

Hey there readers! Before I crack on with today's post, I'd like to apologise for the lack of post on Friday- had a lot of Uni work to do over the weekend which was due in for today, so that had to be a priority. Just so you know I have my 2nd & 3rd 'Freaky Friday' posts planned, the 2nd is still being written & shall be up this week. I'm thinking that after this month I'll reduce my Friday posts to one every two weeks, or maybe even change the day? But I'll discuss that more at a later date.

Now let's get on with today's post!

This week's Music Monday challenge is to share a song from my favourite album- very easy! Today's song is:

'F.O.D.' by Green Day

Dookie is such a great album- touching on feelings of angst, coming-of-age, love & friendship. This song provides a thoughtful yet final angry burst to the album, which ties it up well. (Until you get to the hidden track, 'All By Myself'.) I like this song, admittedly my mental imagery for it takes the lyrics more literally than it should, but really the lyrics are brilliant metaphors dealing with the end of a relationship, whether or not that's platonic or romantic.

So there's my song for today- feel free to respond with your comments on your songs below!

I'll be back Friday, thanks for reading! :)

Weekly Song Challenge Day #18- A Song I Wish I Heard On The Radio

Hello readers! Blogging resumes this week after being ill & in tonight's edition of the Music Monday challenge, I have to share a song I wish I heard on the radio. Although there are a lot of songs I'd love to hear on the radio, I think there's one song that definitely fits the bill for tonight's choice:

'Hit On The Radio' by Blowsight

It's catchy, it's brilliant, it's Blowsight! Gotta love this song, they have a remix of it as well which, although has more of an electronic sound to the original, is equally as good!

So readers, what's a song you'd like to hear on the radio? Comment below! :)

Weekly Song Challenge Day #16- A Song That I Used To Like But Now Dislike

Hello readers! It's Music Monday, & this week my challenge is to find a song I used to like but now dislike. I'd say this is the most difficult task so far, as I can't really recall any songs that I've gone off of. I'm not really the kind of person that gets annoyed by songs being overplayed, & usually if I dislike a song it's always been a song I dislike.

I'd say I'm pretty stumped on this one. If I have to pick, I'll probably go with a song from my youth, one that I wouldn't choose to listen to anymore:

'Whole Again' by Atomic Kitten

As I said, it's one I don't listen to it anymore, I wouldn't say I dislike it as such, as I don't mind it, but it's not something I'd choose to listen to anymore. I was about 7 or so when this came out, & my music taste has significantly changed since then!

On a completely unrelated note, upon going onto my Uni's campus today, I found the magazine with my illustration in. Here is it:
Me & my illustration- yay! :D
And that's all for now. I hope you all enjoyed today's post, I'll be back again on Friday.

Thanks for reading! :)

Weekly Song Challenge Day #15- A Song That Describes Me

Hello all! Welcome back to another edition of Music Monday & the weekly song challenge. This week's challenge is to find a song that describes myself. I would say this is a difficult task, mainly because I don't think there's a single song that can describe me (a notion I think applies to pretty much any human being as we're all so different, for those of you who think I'm being a bit pretentious in saying that).

For example, a song that I have already mentioned that does describe part of me is Green Day's 'Loss Of Control', which I relate to in terms of introversion & a disinterest in the vast majority of people from my year at school. However, as I have already used that song in the challenge (& did explain how it described me then), I'll give you another couple of songs that describe other aspects of my personality:

'I'm Weird' by Ghost Town
It's the first verse & chorus of this song that I'd say describes me, initially, I would say in terms of romance. In my minimal experience in this area, I found I did feel nervous, kind of awkward & weird & really, as the song says, I hoped that they liked & didn't mind me. But thinking about it, this also applies to me in a platonic way as well, again, I can be a bit awkward & shy when I first meet someone & I always hope that we'll get to know each other better.

'I'll Be Around' by Blowsight
I'd say this song describes the part of me as I am, or as how I feel I am, as a friend. As the lyrics say- “I'll be around,”- to any family member or friend needs to chat, if you feel shit, want to rant about life or how fictional characters are annoying you, or even if you need someone express extreme joy or happiness to, I'm there, I'll listen. May not always be there physically & I can't always guarantee the best advice or guidance, but I'm here for you.

That's about all I can think of for now. How about you, my readers, what songs would you say describe you? Feel free to leave a comment!

Thanks for reading! :)

Weekly Song Challenge Day #14- A Song No-One Would Expect Me To Like (And Apologies For Sunday)

Hello all!

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the lack of a post yesterday, which I promised early hours of Saturday morning after my Friday post for that day didn't go as planned. Well, neither did Sunday's, so the exciting thing I wish to share with you will be delayed until this Friday, when it will happen. Plus it's easier for me in terms of finding something to post this Friday, as it's going to be a busy week for me this week.

Anyway, that now means I can crack on with today's actual post, which is my 14th in the series of the Music Monday Song Challenge. This week's challenge gives me the opportunity to share a song no-one would expect me to like, something I thought would be difficult to find after my last instalment, but when I thought about it, I realised that actually there is a song I'm rather liking at the moment that would be a song no-one would expect me to like, & that song is this:

'Budapest' by George Ezra

Has this surprised anyone? Personally, I think it fits the bill for this week's topic as typically, I'm more of a rock/metal/bit weird kind of person. But there's something about this song- the beat & George Ezra's voice- that I really like. I may even check out some more of his stuff...

So that's all for today. Anyone want to share their unexpected songs that they have? If so, leave a comment below!

And stay tuned for Friday- I can guarantee you won't be disappointed! :)

Weekly Song Challenge Day #13- A Song That's A Guilty Pleasure (Or Should I Say 'Songs'?)

Evening readers! Welcome to another installation of my weekly song challenge, which also marks the 30th post on this blog!

Tonight I get to share with you a song that's a guilty pleasure of mine, & seeing as there are a few that I know of, I thought that I'd list my top 5. Although I wouldn't necessarily call them guilty, as I do enjoy them! Anyway, in no particular order, my 5 'guilty' pleasures:

'Party For Everybody' by Buranovskiye Babushki

Russia's Eurovision entry for 2012, I really do enjoy the upbeat tune here, it's just one of those songs & I hear it & I feel happy, that & amused by the fact that I actually have it on my iPod.

'Guilty Beauty Love' English Version covered by Vic Mignogna

This is the character song for Tamaki Suoh in Ouran High School Host Club. Anyone who's watched this anime (or read the manga) will see just how appropriate this song is & how cheesey it is! It's just so Tamaki, it's brilliant!

'Dancing Lasha Tumbai' by Verka Serduchka

Ukraine's Eurovision entry from 2007, which was my favourite that year. I mean, those outfits are just amazing, & this song is just so catchy! Has to be one of my oddest favourites.

'Tubthumping' by Chumbawumba

I know this is a favourite during football season, & it's one of the songs that I just like. I think it's the way it sounds, plus it is catchy.

'Dragostea Din Tei' by O-Zone

Also known widely on the internet as the 'Numa Numa' song, & I will gladly say, with no shame, that this is one of my favourite songs. It's catchy, upbeat & a feel good tune! Plus I think I kind of know all the lyrics...

There we are, my guilty pleasures readers. What are yours, if you have them? Feel free to comment below!

Thanks for reading! :D

Weekly Song Challenge Day #12- A Song From An Artist I Dislike

Hello readers! How's everyone's Monday going? Good I hope. :)

Now onto today's post, & I've reached day 12 of the music challenge, where I get to share with you a song by an artist I dislike. So, here goes:

'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction

They're really not my cup of tea. Although, I do have a confession to make about this song- I did have a dance & sing along to it during my Freshers Ball. That's what I'll dub my shameful drunken moment, but at the time I was having fun, so who cares? (If I'm being honest- I actually don't!)

So there we are, a confession as well as a song for today.

Thanks for reading all! :)

Weekly Song Challenge Day #11- A Song From My Favourite Band

Hello all! It's Monday again, so you know what that means- time for another post on the weekly song challenge! This week's task is easy peasy, as all I have to do is pick a song from my favourite band.

So here we are, I'm sure you all know the band, but here's the song I've chosen:

'Standby Button' by Blowsight

The reason why I've chosen this song is because, when I saw them play live in Sweden, this song was dedicated to myself & my companion as thanks for being there. Brings back amazing memories, will say hand on heart that was the best night I've had all year. Amazing band & amazing people!

So readers, do you have a song to share from your favourite band? If so, comment below!

Thank you for reading! :D

Weekly Song Challenge Day #10- A Song That Makes Me Fall Asleep

Evening readers, welcome back to another music Monday, where today's challenge is to find a song that makes me fall asleep. The thing is with this challenge is that I don't really listen to music when I'm falling asleep, I find it can keep me awake. However, when napping or dozing I can, & there's one album in particular that comes to mind when I think of relaxing, & that's 'Brand New Eyes' by Paramore. I know it's not what would usually be seen as a chill-out album, but I always think of it that way as I recall listening to it once whilst laying on the swing chair, which is why tonight's song will be this:

'All I Wanted'

Although the song doesn't actually make me fall asleep (to be fair, no song does, if I'm tired it just happens!), it's one of the final tracks on the album & the guitar intro to me has a very relaxing feel- just thinking of it takes me back to that lazy afternoon on the swing chair!

So readers, what's your chill tune? Or tunes? Or do you have a song that makes you fall asleep? Comment below!

Thanks for reading! :)

Weekly Music Challenge #9- A Song I Can Dance To

Hey readers, it's Music Monday so I'm continuing the challenge, & I have to admit this week's task is rather a silly one, if I do say so myself.

This week I have to share a song I can dance to, but if I'm being completely honest, I feel that I, along with all other humans on this planet, can dance to any song. I mean, music's music & if it has a beat dance to it! I dance to pretty much anything on my iPod, or anything not on my iPod for that matter! I recall during work experience in year 10 dancing to Michael Buble in the shop I worked in, then the assistant that I was working with asked if I liked Michael Buble, to which I responded, "No, I just like dancing," (Although I'll admit, I don't actually mind Michael Buble, but at that time I was at that alt-kid phase where I kinda refused to admit liking anything mainstream.)

Anyway, enough of my rambling, let's get to the song sharing, because although dancing can be done to any song, I am going to share with you tonight a personal party tune. Well, I'm not a party animal myself, but if I were a DJ, I'd definitely play this at a house party/club:

'I Came 2 Party' by Cinema Bizarre ft Space Cowboy

Well what I can I say, a party tune! This should definitely be played in clubs, it's such a great song to dance to & would fit right in with the atmosphere & culture!

So how about you readers, what song do you think is good to dance to? Comment below!

Thanks for reading, & good night! :D

Weekly Music Challenge #8- A Song That I Know All The Words To

Evening readers! Here's a random fact for you- this post marks my 20th on this blog- hooray! Which means this blog has been up & running for just over two months now- oh how time flies!

Well enough of my rambling, let's get on with tonight's post. Again, it's Music Monday & I continue the challenge, this week I have to share a song that I know all the words to. There's a good amount that I do know, but for tonight's challenge I'm going to pick on that's a favourite of mine, which is:

'The Simple Art Of Making You Mine' by Blowsight

I know I had a post on favourite songs & this wasn't mentioned, but this is definitely one of the songs I'd call a "tune". Love it, got such a good vibe, plus it's amazing live! :D

So, my good readers, there's my song, what's yours? Feel free to comment below! :)

Weekly Music Challenge #7- A Song That Reminds Me Of An Event

Good evening readers & welcome to tonight's post. Tonight on my Music Monday challenge I have to find a song that reminds me of an event. So without further ado, I present tonight's song:

'Extraordinary Girl' by Green Day

This song reminds me of the first time I went to see a Green Day tribute band live. I remember when they played this song, they changed some of the lyrics slightly, singing "Somedays I feel like dying," rather than "Somedays he feels like dying," They also substituted the third for first person in other moments in the song & this is something I tend to think of whenever I hear this song, which is why it reminds me of this particular event.

And there we are folks, tonight's song. Do you have any songs that remind you of events? Feel free to comment!

Thanks for reading! :D
