Theme Park Tips & Tricks

Hey there readers! Had a good week? I know I have, & part of it involved paying a visit to the nation's thrill capital- Thorpe Park. I did originally think to myself that I would do another week review, as I've been to the capital city as well, but instead I felt inspired by my theme park trip to share some tips on what I feel is a good way to go about having a good day at a theme park, using Thorpe Park as an example.

Now, I'm no theme park expert (although if someone paid me to travel the world, visit theme parks, go on all the rides & review them then that would be awesome!), however, I have taken quite a few visits to the parks here in the UK. Not every single one, & I'll admit it's only this year that I've been back to a couple, but in my previous experience I have come across ways to make the most out of a day at a theme park.

So, with Thorpe Park being the main park I'll discuss today, allow me to offer some advice that can also be applied to other theme parks:

  • Go on the newest ride first
This is something me & my Dad do every time we go to a theme park. The reason why this is a good idea is because, as the newest ride, it's likely to get busy very quickly, so therefore it's best to get on it as soon as possible. It's likely that everyone, like you, is eager to try it out, & seeing as theme parks are expensive to get into, there's a chance it wasn't there the last time they came so it will be something different to kick off the adrenaline rush!

At Thorpe Park, the newest ride is The Swarm, which wasn't even built last time I visited Thorpe Park, so that was the ride we immediately went to. However, for us on our day out, it was closed when we got there, which brings me to my next piece of advice:
The Swarm, better forwards than backwards. :)
  • If the newest ride isn't available, go to one you know will be busy
Following on from above, in the event that the newest ride is shut upon arrival at the park, go to a ride that you know will get busy later, or, if you're visiting a theme park for the first time, find the ride that has the longest queue line & go on that, as it's likely that later on in the day it'll be even busier!

For Thorpe Park, the rides I'd recommend in this circumstance would be Colossus & SAW, another benefit here is that these two are in the same area, so I'd recommend riding them one after the other, doesn't matter which one you go in first as they both get just as busy.

SAW: The Ride
  • Book tickets in advance
This eliminates having to queue before you've even gotten into the park! Booking tickets online means you can get to the park & walk in straight away, bypassing having to spend ages queuing up beforehand. The less time spent queuing the better I say!

  • Take advantage of the single rider queue
This may seem like a weird piece of advice, seeing as these queues can last the same time as the regular queue, but if there's a small group of you & you want another quick ride on something & this option is available, why not give it a try? There'll always be people who go in odd number groups, so there's always a chance you'll get on quicker than expected.

At Thorpe Park, Stealth has this option, plus it's a quick ride. Me & my Dad have done this a couple of times, back when Stealth was the newest ride. Got us on a couple more times so we got to have double the Stealth fix!
Gotta love Stealth!
  • If you have the extra cash, take advantage of Fast Track
Well, this has to be on the list. If you can give queues a miss, & have the extra cash for Fast Track, then why not go for it? It can be done either for singular rides, certain kids of rides, or if you have a lot of money to spare, you can buy one for ALL the rides! As a person that has taken advantage of this, I can say it is a great way to get maximum thrills in, admittedly you feel guilty at first bypassing the queues (well, I did), but you soon get over it & enjoy the rides!
Samurai was on top form on my last visit, excellent ride!
So there we are folks, hope these tips help you enjoy your days out! If you have any tips of your own, feel free to leave a comment!

Thanks for reading! :D
